Wandering around Milestones once more, travelling light with my RX100 VII compact camera demonstrating its impressive capabilities in some very low level light conditions typical of most museums, designed to help conserve the colours of many of their precious historical artefacts. Amazing the quality that can be squeezed out of a 1" sensor camera.
I have written here about the resurgence of interest in compact cameras including my own, and this revisit of this museum only served to reenforce the efficacy of such little machines. Ultra easy to carry, hugely flexible and giving great results even in low light conditions, the ultimate test.
Compare the images below to those taken on my previous visit (see here) with my Fujifilm X-T50 with a Fujinon XF 23mm f1.4 R LM WR attached. Can you see any differences? 20Mp vs 40Mp, 1" sensor vs APS-C X-Trans sensor, super zoom vs premium prime lens, colour rendition, etc.
I can when I look carefully, but sometimes I prefer one and sometimes the other, interestingly. However,I do know which camera I prefer to carry.
