Dismal

 ... Journal Entry

Thomas Carlyle once stated that economics was "the dismal science" and we seem to be in the hands of a bunch of "economists" currently whose performance is pitifully and disgracefully bad, i.e dismal; or dismal like a long spell of cold, dreary Winter's days maybe? Dark times!

Funny how a photograph can reflect a scene, a time of day, a turn in the weather, a season, a mood, a feeling. Indeed a feeling in the scene mirroring a feeling in the psyche of the photographer?

Capturing the promise of the long Winter ahead of us, metaphorically, in the clutches of those recalcitrant practitioners of the dismal science, watching the inevitable spiralling decline.

Dismal - from the Norman French dis mal - unlucky days and in turn from the Latin dies mali - evil days.
