The grassland has shrivelled away to brown and is crispy underfoot. The trees meanwhile, with their deep tap roots, continue to draw moisture from somewhere deep underground. They look stressed, however.
The small bog garden, in stark contrast, remains as lush as ever watered by a little brook which in turn is fed by an underground spring. With plenty of water, heat and sunshine it is thriving.
It is strange to think that only a small path separates the two. A world of extremes driven by a common factor, water or the lack of it.
