There is just something about Zeiss G lenses and the distinctive look they impart to my photographs that keeps them in my collection and keeps me using them and film for that matter. I think it's their outstanding colour reproduction that gets me every time together with the true to life way they render fine detail.
As can be seen from the picture above, these lenses exhibit a rich gradation with a clear 3-D pop along with high colour saturation.
Each of the lenses provide high contrast out to the corners of the image field even at full aperture as illustrated in the image above.
There is a small set of Zeiss G primes that go with my Contax G2 comprising:
- Biogon 21mm f2.8
- Biogon 28mm f2.8
- Planar 35mm f2
- Planar 45mm f2
- Sonnar 90mm f2.8
They are all grand optics.
When you match these lenses with quality film like Kodak Ektar or Portra then the results are mighty fine.
